ryan's grandma was released from the hospital and is currently at "christopher's house" in austin. it is a hospice facility for end of life care.
we drove in for the day so that we could spend time with her. we also knew that whatever her condition, she would know her great grandbabies were there. sure enough she became alert the moment she heard them coming down the hallway.... i am sure it was berkley exercising her vocal cords.
(she is making all kinds of new sounds.)
this picture was taken just moments after we walked in the room.
she is one proud great grandmother!
berkley & davis enjoyed time with granny
i love how she could not take her eyes off of the babies.
she was completely enamored.
berkley enjoyed a nap on her lap. i think granny enjoyed it just as much!
davis & his papa
granny has been such an important person in ryan's life. this visit was especially difficult but valuable to him. when we left, granny told us repeatedly what a great job we have done with the babies... that we were good parents. she knows what a good daddy ryan is! it was precious to receive such encouragement from her. even in her suffering she desired to extend love. she said that she loved us, that she always would. ryan was able to visit with her alone for a few minutes before we left. that time with her was precious. thank you Lord for granny & for such a sweet visit.
***update: granny passed away shortly after this visit. we are so grateful for the time we had with her. she said that she felt the babies sleeping on her lap for days after we left.precious. we remember you with joy, granny ma!
