i'm curled up with a hot cup of tea, listening to louis armstrong sing christmas carols as i type. you might be wondering why i'm blogging at 9 am on christmas morning. good question. the babies are sleeping & ryan is presently at the emergency vet clinic with my dad. trooper started chemo last week & has responded well until yesterday. he developed an infection from the injections & was rapidly declining this morning. i'm still waiting to hear back on his status but in the mean time thought i'd distract myself with the internet, a mindless pleasure. i'd hoped to avoid the distraction of mindless pleasures & the stress of this season. yet here i am.
while i have not stopped long to reflect on the significance of this day... i have sung this song in my heart for weeks now, that it would prepare Him room, as it says. i love the image of both heaven & nature, every created thing, rejoicing over the newborn King.
Joy to the world! The Lord has come:
Let earth receive her King.
Let ev'ry heart prepare Him room,
And heav'n and nature sing, and heav'n and nature sing,
And heav'n and heav'n and nature sing.
Joy to the world! The Savior reigns:
Let men their songs employ,
While fields and floods, rocks, hills, and plains,
Repeat the sounding joy, repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat, repeat the sounding joy.
He rules the world with truth and grace,
And makes the nations prove
The glories of His righteousness
And wonders of His love, and wonders of His love
And wonders, wonders of His love.
