it has begun

discipline, that is. over the last few weeks, the twinks have had difficulty sharing..sharing toys & sharing mommy! they have started hitting, pushing & "yelling" at each other. being a teacher of 3-5 year olds, i know these conflicts are simply opportunities... opportunities to teach. we expect to have LOTS of opportunity over the years to train their little hearts.

children have the developmental need to oppose limits & test boundaries. the important thing for us to remember is that it's our responsibility to consistently & lovingly teach them to respect boundaries.

lesson number 1:
training the babies to not throw food

berkley: raises her hand to throw food

mommy:
"no throw. eat." i put her hand back down on the tray before she can throw the food.

repeat a dozen times.

  1. interesting to read your comment about childrens' developmental need to test boundaries - i have a lot to learn about growing babies. i will certainly be watching from afar as you engage in discipline and training :)

  2. Ha ha. Looks and "sounds" like our house these days.

Jayden attempts to knock all food off tray.

Mommy: "Jayden, NO. Eat. Food stays on tray."

    Repeat about 20 times.

    Those boundaries are KEY!!!

  3. That could be our house too, except I feel like a referee between the two of them...sometimes I just want to say "Time-OUT" ...but we LOVE our twins :) :)
    ...and our girls....so much drama!!

  4. i love your sweet lessons that are followed up by sweet pictures of Berk pouring out her sweet heart with tears. you might want to hide these pictures when she's old enough to see that while she was crying, her mom thought it would be a great opportunity to grab the camera!
i love how you always capture these great moments. love you guys!!
