would i pray a different way?

September 14
i went to a banquet the other night. it was a fundraiser for a pro-life ministry in town and it was really such a rich time. the organization is called Aggieland Pregnancy Outreach (check it out online). their ministry is to the women who have unwanted pregnancies. they are normally viewed as irresponsible and unloving ...but this ministry helps to support these women so that they have the resources and love to make changes. it also matches them with adoptive parents. michael reagan spoke...he is ronald reagans adoptive child. he gave his testimony which was POWERFUL and engaging...he has written a book called "twice adopted". it is about his initial adoption as a baby and then his adoption into Christ. also...ross king sang a song from his life...he and his wife adopted. he is emailing the lyrics sometime this week...which i will pass on but they were really challenging to me. my favorite line is...

would we have prayed a different way had we known
that God would bring you home.

it has moved my prayer life...or rather opened it up to this specific possibility that i have been resisting. i have always wanted to adopt... until of course our quest for a biological child became so difficult...and although i still love the idea of adopting...i so strongly want to carry our baby also. but this song reminded me that our child could be formed another way...and i don't want to miss the opportunity to pray for and receive them if that is what He has for us in the future.

i hope that makes sense...it was just so powerful. so i think i will start investigating...if nothing else to open my heart for what may be.
if you get the chance to check out the ministry or Michael Reagans book i would recommend it. the ministry is hoping to build a transitional home for women after they give up their children for adoption...to mentor and counsel them so they are not so easily forgotten. i just love that.
