i’m studying Ephesians this semester…it’s as if i’m seeing old truths with new eyes. i could make a list of the riches we have in Christ but my fresh understanding simply levels me.
what a wonderful mystery…
Ephesians 2:8-10
For grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, so that no one may boast.
how badly we want to earn favor with God… if i just (fill in the blank) or abstain from (fill in the blank). perhaps my shortcomings are not as bad as his/hers. certainly i can do enough good in this life to outweigh the bad.
despite our human condition (Ephesians 2: 1-3) … He, being RICH in MERCY, and because of His GREAT LOVE, saved us.
not because we regularly attend church, give to the Red Cross, or drink only in moderation. For GRACE we have been saved through FAITH, and this is not of ourselves.
beyond that vs. 10 goes on to say we are His workmanship, created for good works...
we are HIS workmanship …
He is the workman
we are HIS work
as Christians, even the good that we do isn't our work at all. it has been laid out for us and grace alone allows us to participate.
how refreshing. and beyond humbling.
thank you, LORD, for amazing grace & that we will never fully understand it's mystery!

Ephesians 2:8-10 is some of my favorite scripture. I think it is so important, I added it to our memory verse box and my girls learned it this summer. :)
